Book Distribution

Srila Prabhupada presents Krishna consciousness in a very simple and practical way in his books. His spiritual master, Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saravati Thakur referred to distribution of Krishna conscious books as Brihad Mridanga, the greater drum and instructed Srila Prabhupada to print books whenever he got money. In accordance with that instruction Srila Prabhupada wanted books to be distributed in every town and village.
Within the final twenty years of his life Prabhupada translated over sixty volumes of classic Vedic scriptures (such as the Bhagavad Gita and the Srimad Bhagavatam) into the English language. For their authority, depth, and clarity, his books have won praise from professors at colleges and universities like Harvard, Oxford, Cornell, Columbia, Syracuse, Oberlin, and Edinburgh, and his Bhagavad-Gita As It Is was published by Macmillan Publishers, in 1968 and unabridged edition in 1972, and is now available in over sixty languages around the world and some other books by Prabhupada are available in over eighty different languages.
It is believed that Prabhupada’s most significant contribution is his books. ISKCON has distributed over half billion books since 1965.
In 2013, eight million books have been distributed all over the world. In 201
2, the New Goloka book distribution team has crossed 5500 books being distributed to Universities, hospitals, motels, door to door and smart boxes (an attractive display of Prabhupada's books, which people can take a book from if they leave a donation) placed at various grocery stores and restaurants.
In 2013, the New Goloka book distribution team has crossed 7600 books.
We are committed to sharing the wealth of Vedic knowledge and culture, and to enlighten people by distributing authorized scriptures.
